Nagoya House
Located in Japan’s third largest city, the house is designed to respond to a narrow site with a very high slope. The two major design priorities were privacy from the street and maximizing views from the rear of the house. This was achieved by splitting the mass of the house in half and shifting the portion of the house with the best views. This created layered privacy at the front and allowed for views in multiple directions from the highest point of the site. Detailing and materials are modern in their nature, but respond to traditional and contextual cues.
